How To Age Your Vintage Oshkosh?

How To Age Your Vintage Oshkosh?
We are proud to say we have sold countless Oshkosh dungarees in our time so here's a simple & hopefully well informed resource guide to help you age your dungarees by their labels.
What else to look for?
- The generous bubble fit is standard for the 1980's along with bows to the back and bright, fun prints, however Europe and Australia also produced more of the fun prints, which are also very desirable.
- If the Triangle label to the back has a paper, stiff feel this means its 1990's or earlier, if its a shiny synthetic feel then its a more modern dungaree.
- If you have an internal label thats a faded paper kind of feel this is also an indicator of age, we are talking 1980's and earlier. Shiny synthetic labels indicate a modern item.
- The weight of the label despite it being synthetic is also an indicator, if its a stiffer, heavy woven label with the brand woven into the label rather than printed then it's likely from the 1990's
- If you ever see "Union Made Sanforized" then you have just won the gold at the end of the rainbow. These are from the 1970's when Oshkosh was a work wear brand and produced heavier quality dungarees, 'to be like dad' before they became popular in the 80's.
- "Made in the USA" tag: This is a key sign of vintage apparel. Manufacturing moved overseas in 1997, so a U.S. tag dates the item prior to that. Tags from Honduras, Guatemala, and Canada can also be considered vintage.
-
Brass hardware: Older items feature heavy-duty, branded brass hardware that has a higher quality shine than modern pieces.
Please note: This is an estimate as different labels span varying amounts of time/decades & this is from our knowledge with the stock thats passed through our doors. We have no afflilation with Oshkosh in any way.
